Martin has always had a passion for big cats and he has been very lucky to take some great photographs of them. Each time he has visited the Masai Mara in Kenya, he has viewed lions, leopards and cheetahs.
It is said that Africa can seize your soul and for Martin this has definitely been the case. The sights, sounds and smells make it a truly unique environment, of which he never tires.
When Martin first visited Africa he was taken by surprise at the abundance of bird life. Many are brilliantly coloured and quite unlike any to be found in the U.K. In East Africa alone it is estimated that there are over 1200 species!
High profile species of bears, such as the polar bear, grizzly bear and giant panda (yes it is a bear!) are often the most photographed. Martin’s images in this gallery are of the beautiful polar bear and the lesser known European brown bear, which he photographed on the border of Finland and Russia
